A hand throw with a facetted surface that has been sanded and polished back to leave a crisp 16 sided vase. The thick, electric blue translucent glaze has a satin like texture and 'breaks' away from each edge, gently to reveal the form beneath.
This range of work is fired at 1280˙, in an oxygen starved environment which forms the vivid colour of glaze and highly translucent walls of the porcelain itself. As the glaze melts at the highest temperatures, the external layer of glaze runs over the surface, forming the heavy bead of white, leaving a trail of white fleck scattered throughout.
The vase for sale on this page is that with the lighter 'electric' blue in images with two vases.
